André Guedes and Miguel Loureiro
André Guedes (Lisbon, 1971) Graduated in Architecture from the Universidade Técnica in Lisbon, he has taken part in a number of residency programmes, such as Gasworks, London (2010), Le Pavillon / Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2004/05) and Fondazione Pistoletto / Cittadellarte, Biella (2003). In 2007 he has received the União Latina Arts Award in Portugal.
Some of his last solo projects and solo shows include, ‘Prospectus, Scene II’ with Clara Batalha, Galerie Crèvecoeur, Paris (2013), ‘Nova Árgea’ Phakt, Rennes Biennial (2012), ‘Pleasure Gardens’, Kunsthalle Lissabon, Lisbon (2012), ‘L’argent’, Galerie Crèvecoeur (2010), ‘Airotiv’ (2009) Centro Cultural Montehermoso, Vitoria (Spain), ‘The Losts’, Bluecoat, Liverpool (2009), ‘Another Trees, Another Switch, Another Smoker and a Prepared Room’, Serralves Museum, Porto (2004). He currently prepares ‘Prospectus, Scene III, Intermission and Scene IV’ at CAM /Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon (June 2014).
His work was also shown in several group shows, including ‘Textile Languages’, Thalie Art Project, Brussels (2014), ‘Sob o Signo de Amadeo’, CAM/ Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon (2013), ‘Itinerarios 2011/2012’, Fundacion Botin, Santander (2013), ‘Ca & là / This & there’, Fondation d’entreprise Ricard, Paris (2012), ‘I’m not here. An exhibition without Francis Alys’, De Appel, Amsterdam (2010), ‘World Question Centre’, Athens Biennial (2009), ‘Disarming Matter’, Dunkers Kulturhus, Helsinborg, Sweden (2008).
He collaborated on the set and costume design of works by Vera Mantero, Paulo Henrique, Miguel Pereira and Martine Pisani, and also did theatre projects in collaboration with Cão Solteiro company (‘Aqui Também Acabou’, 2008) and theatre maker Miguel Loureiro (‘Como Rebolar Alegremente Sobre um Vazio Exterior’, 2010). He prepares at the moment a new theatre piece, ‘New, Caledonia’, together with Loureiro, for Cultugest in Lisbon (November 2014).
