Laboratory at Labverde - Art Immersion Program in the Amazon, 2019

One of my biggest wishes would be to have some kind of contact with people from the forest, to understand the forest with them, through them, to learn from them. The forest areas that are Indigenous Land are systematically the best preserved. Indigenous people are the ones with the most conscious relationship with the forest and are inseparable from what the forest is. And at this moment they are the Brazilian population most threatened by the current government.

My project could be to bring indigenous people (in 2D or 3D) to Labverde, to make indigenous people present. I have already made a people present (in “The Cadeirão Highlanders, exercises in fictional anthropology”, 2012), an invisible people. I could now make other people present.

LABVERDE is designed for artists and creators who are eager to reflect on nature and landscape. The programme promotes an intensive experience in the Amazon rainforest to explore the connection between science, art and the natural environment. 10 days of sharing knowledges and practices in an intensive journey to enhance creativity having nature as a common ground.

The core of the artistic research relies on the Amazon environmental issues as well as its role for the planet's ecological balance. The opportunity to develop innovative studies in the cultural field will be mediated by a team of arts, humanities, biology, ecology and natural science specialists.
